Transparent Management
of Load Carriers
INDEX uses BOX ID to track 1,000 transport racks across five locations. Real-time data prevents production delays and boosts the efficiency of day-to-day operations.

Why rack tracking became impossible
In mechanical engineering, most orders are single-unit production runs. Additionally, each order consists of a large number of parts and components that must be available for production on schedule. Due to the size and weight of these components, INDEX Werke uses a variety of load carriers to deliver assemblies to the production site.
In the past, reliably tracking over 1,000 load carriers across five production sites was virtually impossible, which repeatedly led to manufacturing delays.

Precise classification and hybrid sensing technology
INDEX uses a combination of active trackers for real-time location tracking and passive QR codes for reporting status changes. With 77 defined load carrier types and 12 status classes (e.g., empty loaded, defective, under repair), every process step is digitized. At the touch of a button, the logistics team gains a transparent view of the availability and exact location of each rack.
Active trackers for precise real-time tracking
Passive QR codes for convenient status feedback
Cloud platform with process mining
The cloud solution stands out for its simplicity and user-friendly management. INDEX Werke integrated process mining as early as the testing phase to gain valuable insights into real-world material flows. This results in significantly faster response times throughout the entire logistics process.
Insights from integrated process mining
